Accurate measurements are the foundation of a perfect installation. Follow this field process to prevent remakes and capture every detail needed for the estimate.

4-STEP WINDOW MEASUREMENT

Width (W)

Measure 3 points → use the shortest

  1. Measure the inside width at the top of the frame.
  2. Measure the inside width at the middle of the frame.
  3. Measure the inside width at the bottom of the frame.
  4. Record the shortest of the three values.
Do not measure the outside frame or include the wall.

MOUNT TYPE DIMENSIONS

Order dimensions and clearance checks depend on the selected mount type.

Inside Mount

Mounts within the frame for a clean finish

Submit the exact opening measurement
Confirm at least 1.5 in frame depth
Check handle and lock clearance
Verify space from glass to frame face

Outside Mount

Mounts beyond the frame for stronger light control

Width: add 2 in on each side
Height: add 2 in above and 1 1/4 in below
Confirm the mounting wall is flat
Confirm valance or ceiling-mount clearance

COMMON MISTAKES & CORRECT METHOD

Most remakes start with one of these preventable field errors.

✕ Ordering with outside-frame dimensions
✓ Measure the inside opening for an inside mount
✕ Measuring only once
✓ Measure three points and use the shortest value
✕ Mixing inches and centimeters
✓ Record every dimension in inches to 1/8 inch
✕ Ignoring handles and locks
✓ Record their height and projection for clearance
✕ Recording dimensions without photos
✓ Photograph the tape at every required measurement
✕ Skipping the diagonal check
✓ Report an out-of-square frame before leaving
